Founded in 2007 by our Head of Academy, Tina, Footlights has been a cornerstone of performing arts education in Nailsea and the South West. With a lifetime of experience as a professional dancer, performer, and choreographer, Tina was inspired to create a space where young talent could flourish and grow in both skill and confidence. Her vision has always been to deliver the highest standard of training, combined with a supportive and creative environment that encourages students to thrive. 

 

Footlights is more than just a stage school, it's a family. From our state-of-the-art studios in Nailsea, we provide exceptional training in dance, drama, and musical theatre, guiding students of all ages to unlock their potential. At the heart of our academy is Tina, who has nurtured Footlights from a local theatre performance group—putting on just one show in 2007—into a thriving hub for performing arts training. Now, alongside our dedicated Associate Head of Academy Esther, they continue to inspire and guide the next generation of performers, ensuring each student receives the highest standard of training and care. Tina’s daughter Emily, an NHS doctor, has inherited the family's passion for the arts and plays a key role behind the scenes, supporting the academy's growth and success.

Our high standards of education have helped many students pursue successful careers in the performing arts, while others have found the confidence and discipline gained here invaluable in all walks of life. We pride ourselves on being a place where everyone can belong, grow, and thrive, regardless of their end goal.
What sets us apart is our dedication to giving students real-world performance experiences. Three times a year, we stage full-scale professional productions in a large theatre, allowing every student the chance to shine on a big stage. Our elite competition team, a recent addition, has already earned regional and national titles—proof of the incredible talent we cultivate.
